Mr. Iremonger

asked the Minister of Transport if she will seek powers to regulate the parking of cars and lorries in Greater London and to install parking meters in residential areas; and if she will make a statement on the progress so far achieved by Greater London boroughs in this respect.

Such powers already exist. They lie with the Greater London Council and the boroughs, and any statement on progress would be for them to make.
