asked the President of the Board of Trade what economies have been made in his Department since 20th July, 1966, in expenditure on hospitality and official entertainment.

My Department has always exercised strict economy in this matter; all such expenditure is carefully examined against the background of the measures announced by the Prime Minister on 20th July, 1966.
