HC Deb 25 January 1967 vol 739 c294W
Sir J. Gilmour

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what estimate he has made of the loss of good agricultural land in Scotland over the next 10 years for the provision of housing, roads, reservoirs and any other industrial purposes; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Ross

None, because much of the information needed for an estimate is not available. At present about 5,000 acres of agricultural land of all qualities are being taken each year for development.
