HC Deb 23 January 1967 vol 739 c202W
Mr. Kershaw

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he is aware that the water supply in Stonehouse, Gloucestershire, has for years been discoloured and distasteful, giving rise to public disquiet; whether he is satisfied that the water is not dangerous to health; what is the cause of this condition; what steps he proposes to take to remedy the situation; when these steps will be taken; and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. MacColl

This is primarily a matter for the North West Gloucester Water Board. But since it was brought to my right hon. Friend's attention last October he has called for several reports from the Board. The local Medical Officer of Health is satisfied that there is no danger to health and this is confirmed by my right hon. Friend's medical advisers after an examination of bacteriological analyses this week.

The Department's officers will however be discussing the problem with representatives of the Board and of the Stonehouse Parish Council on 8th February.
