§ 74. Mr. George Craddockasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is aware of the use of a new material called Incadine which when made into dresses has been found under test to be highly inflammable, and if he will bring this material under the same consumer protection regulations as children's nightdresses, so that it is banned from the market altogether.
§ Mr. Roy JenkinsUntil the end of last month, Incadine dresses were made from a metallised polyester film which is inflammable. At the request of my Department, the manufacturer concerned has now stopped using this material and has substituted metallised polyvinyl chloride, which is self-extinguishing. In the circumstances, I do not think there is a need for special regulations.
