§ Mr. FernyhoughNone. The construction and maintenance of escalators in shops and other premises coming within the Offices, Shops and Railways Premises Act 1963, as well as the provision of hand-rails for them, are already covered by requirements of that Act. The purpose of the Act is to make provision for the safety, health and welfare of employees, but incidental protection is provided for members of the public.
