My right hon. Friend the President of the Board of Trade already has wide 34W powers under the Monopolies and Mergers Act, 1965, and will not hesitate to use them whenever appropriate. As to fresh legislation we should, I think, gain more information about the practical operation of this fairly new legislation before deciding whether further changes are necessary.
