Mr. Juddasked the Secretary of State for Defence what studies he plans to initiate in order to consider the potential contribution which could be made to civilian production, particularly for overseas development programmes, by the resources of manpower and equipment in Her Majesty's Dockyards in addition to their essential availability for naval priorities.
§ Mr. ReynoldsNone. The present and prospective work load of H.M. Dockyards is such that it would not be justifiable to embark on the heavy capital expenditure which would be needed to undertake the sort of work suggested.
