§ Mr. Richard Wainwrightasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many slaughterhouses are now approved for the export of meat; and whether there is likely to be an increase in the number in the near future.
§ Mr. John Mackie56 slaughterhouses in England and Wales are approved for export purposes. Two other applicants for approval have been advised of alterations needed at their premises to satisfy the requirements of importing countries. It is for the occupier of a slaughterhouse to apply for approval and consequently I cannot forecast future increases.
