LORD MORRISasked Her Majesty's Government:
To reveal the reasoning underlying the advice given to the High Commissioner to commute to a nominal 10 years' imprisonment the sentence of death passed by the Supreme Court of Aden on a British soldier for the brutal killing of a local taxi-driver, the murderer's subsequent appeal having been recently and unanimously dismissed as being devoid of merit.
§ LORD SHACKLETONNo advice was tendered by Her Majesty's Government to the High Commissioner in this matter.
House adjourned at half past seven o'clock
