HL Deb 22 February 1967 vol 280 c798WA
LORD MORRIS

asked Her Majesty's Government:

To reveal the reasoning underlying the advice given to the High Commissioner to commute to a nominal 10 years' imprisonment the sentence of death passed by the Supreme Court of Aden on a British soldier for the brutal killing of a local taxi-driver, the murderer's subsequent appeal having been recently and unanimously dismissed as being devoid of merit.

LORD SHACKLETON

No advice was tendered by Her Majesty's Government to the High Commissioner in this matter.

House adjourned at half past seven o'clock
