HC Deb 21 February 1967 vol 741 cc253-4W
Mr. Manuel

Q. 14. asked the Prime Minister whether he will make a statement on the salary to be paid to the right hon. Lady the Member for Cannock and value of the exports of cattle, sheep and pigs to the Continent for each of the year from 1962 to 1966.

Mr. Darling

Yes. The following is the information: at the Department of Education and Science.

The Prime Minister

As my hon. Friend will know the normal minimum salary of a Minister of State is £5,625 a year. In view of the need for restraint, however, it has been agreed that my right hon. Friend will for the time being serve at her previous salary of £3,750 a year despite her promotion. This follows the precedent set in the case of my right hon. Friend the Member for Dundee, East (Mr. George Thomson), as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
