§ The Prime MinisterAs my hon. Friend will know the normal minimum salary of a Minister of State is £5,625 a year. In view of the need for restraint, however, it has been agreed that my right hon. Friend will for the time being serve at her previous salary of £3,750 a year despite her promotion. This follows the precedent set in the case of my right hon. Friend the Member for Dundee, East (Mr. George Thomson), as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
