Mr. Buchanan-Smith

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will give, to the nearest convenient date, the number of claims he has received from eligible agricultural establishments for repayment of the Selective Employment Tax; and how many of those claims have been settled.

By 17th February nearly 13,000 claims for repayment had been received from employers in agriculture, horticulture and forestry, and over 10,000 of these claims had been met.
