HC Deb 20 February 1967 vol 741 cc204-5W
Mr. Maxwell-Hyslop

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether, during the visit of Mr. Kosygin, he accorded or agreed to accord any recognition of the seizure and annexation by the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics of the independent and sovereign republics of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

Mr. George Thomson

The position remains as stated by my hon. Friend, then Minister of State for Foreign Affairs on 18th July, 1966. Her Majesty's Government recognise that the Baltic States have beende facto absorbed into the Soviet Union but have not recognised this de jure. The question of recognition was not discussed during Mr. Kosygin's visit.—{Vol. 732, c. 8.]
