Elliottasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is aware that there have been a number of cases in Newcastle-upon-Tyne of young people suffering from the effects of the drug lysergic acid diethylamide; and whether he will make a statement on the progress he has made in his review of the working of the Drugs (Prevention of Misuse) Act, 1964.
§ Mr. Roy JenkinsI understand that neither the police nor the hospital authorities have evidence of the misuse of this drug in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. The Poisons Board is at present considering the need for further controls over its distribution and custody.
