§ Viscount Lambtonasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food whether, in view of new evidence which has come to light, he will say what calibre weapons were used to shoot animals on Lord Ravensworth's farm near Whittingham last summer.
§ Mr. PeartI am glad to have this opportunity of correcting that part of my reply to the hon. Member of 7th February in which I stated that no .22 pistol was used in Lord Ravensworth's farm and that the pistol used on the Highland cattle was a .45 automatic. I have now been informed that the .45 automatic had been converted to fire .22 high velocity ammunition. I have also been informed that a 9 mm. Smith and Wesson automatic pistol was used on the Highland bull. These weapons were completely effective.—[Vol. 740, c.284–5.]
