§ Mr. SwinglerThe mileage of motorway completed in England between 1970 and 1980 will depend on the level of public expenditure on inter-urban roads during the 1970s and decisions on the standards to which individual sections of the inter-urban network should be improved.
My right hon. Friend hopes to announce within the next few days a large number of new inter-urban schemes, some to motorway standards, on which preparations will start now with a view to subsequent inclusion in the first part of the 1970s programme.
