Mr. Onslow

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will take steps to obtain and publish statistics to show the value of United Kingdom private investment in developing countries and the annual earnings thereof for the years subsequent to 1963.

Mr. Callaghan

The book value of United Kingdom private direct investment* in developing countries at end—1964 is estimated to have been £1,394 million. I gave the hon. Gentleman an estimate of earnings in the year 1964, in Answer to his Question on 1st February.
