HC Deb 15 February 1967 vol 741 c114W
88. Mr. George Jeger

asked the Minister of Transport when she expects to publish the route of the Thorne bypass, A614; and how, in the absence of a definite scheme, the estimated cost of £2,974,000 as published in Command Paper No. 232 of 13th December, 1966 was arrived at.

Mr. Swingler

The estimate given in House of Commons Paper No. 232, which is a Report for the year ended 31st March, 1966, relates to the original proposal published in 1963 for a local all-purpose bypass. A road on a new alignment is now proposed as part of the motorway extension of M18.

An aerial survey is required, and will be flown as soon as suitable weather permits, to enable detailed plans for the new line to be produced. A draft Scheme will be published as soon as possible thereafter but no firm estimate of cost for the revised scheme can yet be made.
