Mr. Galbraith

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what was the number of convictions for unlawful supply of drugs in each of the last five years, and the penalty imposed in each case.

The numbers of such convictions in Great Britain under the Dangerous Drugs Act and the sentences were as follows:

2 months' imprisonment
1964 1 6 months' imprisonment
1965
1966 3 Conditional discharge
£10 fine or one day's imprisonment, which was served
£40 fine
