HC Deb 15 February 1967 vol 741 c120W
Mr. Boardman

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government what research is being carried out with a view to speeding up the building of traditional brick houses, particularly by the smaller building firms.

Mr. Mellish

Much of the current work of the Building Research Station, whilst not aimed specifically at smaller building firms, is directly applicable to them; this includes all work dealing with performance and materials, and the projects, now being undertaken in collaboration with the Department and the Ministry of Public Building and Works, on component development, dimensional co-ordination, programming and control of operations on site. Much other research is going on. For example the National Building Agency is collaborating with the Brick Development Association on the development of types of brick houses employing rationalised traditional methods.
