HC Deb 15 February 1967 vol 741 c100W
Mr. Biffen

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if it is his policy that the recent increase to agricultural workers awarded by the Agricultural Wages Board shall only be paid to those currently receiving only the minimum rates; what percentage of adult male agricultural workers are estimated to be receiving only the minimum rate; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. John Mackie

I would refer the hon. Member to my right hon. Friend's reply to the hon. Member for Norfolk, North (Mr. Hazell) on 2nd February. It is estimated that in England and Wales about 10 per cent. of hired regular wholetime adult male agricultural workers earn no more than the minimum rates prescribed by the Agricultural Wages Board.—[Vol. 740, c.165–7.]
