Mr. Hamling

asked the Minister of Social Security whether she will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT the number of households who have applied for the repayment of Selective Employment Tax during the first two quarters under the regulations for qualified households under the following categories, households including a person over the age of 70 years, households including a person needing domestic or nursing assistance, and households including child and one parent or guardian, respectively; and the number of cases during that period which have been referred to the Appeal Tribunal.

Selective Employment Tax became payable from 5th September, 1966. The first claims in respect of qualified households were received at the beginning of October. Following are the number of claims received in the four months October to January, 1967:—

3. Households including a child and one parent or guardian 684
Total 22,064

The number of cases referred to Appeal Tribunals in the same period was 155.
