asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the present estimate of the amount of revenue likely to be raised from Selective Employment Tax in the first full 12 months.

Approximately £220 million net in a full year.

Mr. Symonds

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is his most recent estimate of the annual repayment of Selective Employment Tax to manufacturing industry; and how much of it is made to companies controlled from the United States of America.

Mr. Diamond

In a full year the gross value of premiums to manufacturing industry is estimated to be of the order of £570 million and the tax paid by employers receiving premiums to be of the order of £440 million. I regret that the information asked for in the second part of the Question is not available.
