HC Deb 14 February 1967 vol 741 cc56-7W
Sir T. Brinton

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government to what extent the hearing of appeals against local authority planning refusals for dwelling houses is being delayed by a shortage of inspectors; and what effect he estimates that this delay is having upon the house building programme.

Mr. Mellish

Shortage of inspectors is a cause of delay in holding inquiries into planning appeals, but the delay is being reduced as a result of the recruitment of more inspectors and a small decline in the number of appeals. Any effect on the house building programme is marginal.
