HC Deb 14 February 1967 vol 741 c60W
Mr. Kitson

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what was the total tonnage of eggs imported into Great Britain in 1965 and 1966 and what tonnage has so far been imported in 1967; and, in view of the recent substantial fall in price to the producers, if he will take steps to limit imports.

Mr. Hoy

Separate figures are not available for Great Britain. 14,837 tons of shell eggs were imported into the United Kingdom in 1965 and 13,012 tons in 1966. No official figures for 1967 are yet available.

As regards the second part of the question, I would refer the hon. Member to the reply my right hon. Friend gave to the hon. Member for Down, North (Mr. Currie) on 9th February.—[Vol. 740, c. 363–4.]
