Mr. Jonesasked the Minister of Health what steps he has taken during the last two years to make known to the public and to members of local authorities through the Medical Officer of Health Service, the joint Circular 8/62, Ministry of Education, and 20/62, Ministry of Health, dealing with over-consumption of carbohydrates, particularly sugar, as a fundamental cause of increasing caries in children.

In a further joint circular sent to them on 1st December, 1966, they were reminded of the earlier circular, and of the need for improved arrangements for dental health education, which includes the encouragement of proper habits of diet and oral hygiene from the earliest age.
