HC Deb 09 February 1967 vol 740 cc360-1W
Mr. Carlisle

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will now make a statement on the treatment by the Moroccan Police of Mr. J. K. Redican, a British subject, about which he has received correspondence from the hon. Member for Runcorn.

Mr.William Rodgers

A report on the alleged brutal treatment of Mr. Redican by the Tangier Police was submitted by the Head of the Tangier Police to his superiors in Rabat at the end of October 1966. After studying this report the Moroccan Minister for Foreign Affairs ordered that a further enquiry should be made by the Ministry of the Interior.

The result of this inquiry is not yet available, but a senior official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has assured our Consul in Rabat that it will be communicated to our Embassy as soon as possible.
