§ Mr. Hector Hughesasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will seek powers to compensate persons for loss of liberty and time who, in Scotland, after arrest and committal for trial in custody, are eventually found not guilty of the offence with which they are charged.
§ Mr. RossThis would represent a fundamental innovation in the law of Scotland. The Lord Advocate and I have considered it carefully but we do not think that a sufficient case has been made out for it.
