§ 108. Dame Irene Wardasked the Minister of Transport whether she will make a statement on a proposed new pensions scheme for railwaymen; and whether there will be a financial contribution from Treasury sources to ensure better pension terms.
§ Mr. John MorrisThe British Railways Board will introduce on 14th August a new and considerably improved contributory pension scheme for men and women in the wages grades. The fund will be financed by equal contributions from members and the Board. While the Board is in revenue deficit the additional cost to the Board, under present arrangements, will in practice be met by the Exchequer.
