HC Deb 08 February 1967 vol 740 c320W
103. Mr. Mapp

asked the Minister of Transport if she will now make a statement on the proposed regulations covering motor vehicles fumes.

Mrs. Castle

I will make new regulations controlling fumes from petrol-engined motor vehicles if and when research now proceeding in this country and under the aegis of the Economic Commission for Europe shows this to be necessary and practicable.

The plating and testing of goods vehicles as provided for in the Road Safety Bill and the introduction of a British Standard for diesel engines will result in less diesel exhaust smoke.
