§ Mr. Oswaldasked the Minister of Health if he will state the total number of persons employed in the hospital service in Great Britain, naming the numbers in their separate categories, and the shortages of staff in each category, and the estimated extra cost of filling all the vacancies.
§ Mr. SnowNumbers employed at 30th September, 1965 in England and Wales, in terms of whole-time equivalents, are set out in the following table. Later figures are not yet available for all staff. As regards shortages I would refer my hon. Friend to the reply my right hon. Friend gave to the right hon. Member for Kingston-upon-Thames (Mr. Boyd-Carpenter) on 14th November [Vol. 736, c. 33–4.] which is of general application.
