HC Deb 02 February 1967 vol 740 cc145-6W
Mr. William Hamilton

asked the Minister of Overseas Development whether, in view of the increasingly racialist policies being pursued at the university in Salisbury, Rhodesia, and the policy of the illegal Smith régime of implementing apartheid, he will now cease all financial assistance to the university.

Mr. Bottomley

I have nothing to add at present to the Answer which I gave to the hon. Member for Portsmouth, West (Mr. Judd) on 21st December. I shall continue to watch the position closely and, as I then said, we shall need to be satisfied that the College is continuing to function as a multi-racial institution under its charter before we make the three remaining quarterly payments for 1967.—[Vol. 738, c. 384–5.]
