HC Deb 02 February 1967 vol 740 cc171-2W
Sir Knox Cunningham

asked the Minister of Transport what steps she is taking to prevent people from camping on the grass verges of trunk roads and bringing on to such verges parts of motor cars and other debris; and if she will make a statement.

Mr. Swingler

The problem of people without settled homes camping on the grass verges of trunk roads is a social one, and can only be solved by the provision of camping sites by local authorities. The Civic Amenities Bill now before Parliament should reduce considerably the depositing of derelict motor cars and other rubbish on trunk road verges.
