HC Deb 02 February 1967 vol 740 cc168-9W
Mr. Ashley

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what plans he has for improving the audibility of British Broadcasting Corporation broadcasts in the Persian Gulf area.

Mr. William Rodgers

With the agreement of the Sultan of Muscat and Oman, Her Majesty's Government have begun work on the construction of a broadcast relay station on the island of Masirah. The new station replaces the former relay station on Perim and is intended to improve reception of the British Broadcasting Corporation signal in the Arab world and in South and Central Asia.
