§ Mr. Whitakerasked the Attorney-General whether he is aware of the public concern at the refusal of legal aid for the case of Rondel v. Worsley, which the House of Lords had certified to involve a point of law of public importance; and whether he will take steps to amend the rule which requires £1,000 costs within seven days, in view of its effect in preventing indigent people from presenting their appeals.
§ The Attorney-GeneralAs my hon. Friend is aware, the rule regarding security for costs has been waived in this case, and, as the case is proceeding, it is better that I should not comment on the reasons why legal aid was refused.
