HC Deb 21 December 1967 vol 756 c502W
Mr. G. Campbell

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs how many resolutions, adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations since 15th October, 1964, have not been accepted by Her Majesty's Government.

Mr. Goronwy Roberts:

I regret that this information is not readily available and the cost of obtaining it would not be justified.

Sir C. Osborne

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he will give an assurance that Her Majesty's Government will not implement and obey any resolution of the United Nations which causes privation and unemployment to the British people.

Mr. Goronwy Roberts:

As my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister said in reply to the hon. Member for Shrewsbury (Sir J. Langford-Holt) on 20th July, we accept our obligations under Article 25 of the United Nations Charter to carry out decisions of the Security Council. We also give great weight to recommendations of the Security Council or of the General Assembly, but our action is determined by the merits of each case.—[Vol. 750, c. 2474–5.]
