HC Deb 21 December 1967 vol 756 c475W
Mr. James Davidson

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if it is his policy that, after the raising of the school-leaving age in 1970, a 16 year old pupil in England or Wales who is married will be kept compulsorily at school until the first statutory leaving dates after the sixteenth birthday.

Miss Bacon:

The law governing school attendance in England and Wales make no provision for exemption on grounds of marriage. There are no proposals to change this when the school leaving age is raised.
