HC Deb 21 December 1967 vol 756 c539W
Rear-Admiral Morgan Giles

asked the Minister of Transport from how many local authorities she has received representations in favour of the Passenger Transport Authority; and how many have expressed their reservations.

Mr. Swingler:

We have received letters from over 40 individual local authorities all of which expressed reservations on at least some aspects of the draft proposals. There have also been extensive discussions with the Local Authority Associations, who while in favour of the local government basis of Passenger Transport Authorities, have made a great number of other points. My right hon. Friend took all of these into account before developing the final proposals published in the White Paper on Public Transport and Traffic (Cmnd. 3481).
