HC Deb 21 December 1967 vol 756 c506W
Mr. Biffen

asked the Minister of Labour what is the expected rise in rates and earnings arising from the recent settlement of the dispute involving municipal bus workers; if such a settlement is consistent with the Government's prices and incomes policy; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Hattersley:

I understand that the settlement provides for an increase of £1 per week. This would increase the driver's basic rate by 7.7 per cent. I understand that the National Board for Prices and Incomes have carried out earnings inquiries and that the results are being published in their Report. My right hon. Friend will be discussing the settlement and the N.B.P.I. Report on pay and productivity of busmen with the representatives of the employers and unions this afternoon.
