Mr. William Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what proportion of total medical research expenditure is incurred in Scotland; and by how much this has increased in absolute terms and as a percentage.

Total Government expenditure on medical research and the proportion thereof incurred in Scotland in recent years have been approximately as follows:—
