§ Mr. Robert Howarthasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he has now reached a decision on the minimum prices of those charter inclusive tour holidays by air which are governed by Provision I of British Operators' Service licences.
§ Mr. Crosland:After consultation with air operators and representatives of the travel trade, I have decided that the minimum prices of charter inclusive tour holidays by air, which are governed by Provision I in the relevant air service 486W licences, should be allowed to remain at their pre-devaluation levels so far as destinations in Europe, Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia are concerned, during the coming summer season from 1st April to 31st October, 1968. The Board of Trade have accordingly approved an alternative tariff, under the terms of Provision I, having this effect. This does not, however, affect the charges for inclusive tours on scheduled services operated by the airlines which are members of the International Air Transport Association, and which are bound by the relevant I.A.T.A. resolutions.
I propose for the future to make a thorough review of the basis on which the prices of charter inclusive tours are determined.
