§ Mr. Liptonasked the Minister of Transport whether she will issue regulations to make mandatory the marking of yellow lines on roads within meter zones in the Greater London area to indicate that parking is banned, in accordance with the general practice elsewhere.
§ Mr. Swingler:We are considering whether it is necessary to make regulations as suggested by my hon. and gallant Friend. It is now the practice of highway authorities in Greater London to lay down yellow lines wherever waiting is prohibited within parking meter zones. It can happen, however, that yellow lines are temporarily obliterated during the carrying out of road works.
