§ Mr. Smallasked the Postmaster-General whether proposals have been made by the British Broadcasting Corporation to improve reception of Radio-2 in Scotland.
§ Mr. Edward Short:I have authorised the B.B.C. to open low-power stations at Glasgow and Edinburgh to relay Radio-2 (the light Programme) on one of the international common medium wavelengths, 1484, kHz, 202 metres. Because this wavelength can only be used at very low power, the range of stations using it will be very limited and they are therefore of most value in serving urban areas. The Corporation tell me that if all goes well, both these stations should be open before Christmas.
