§ Sir E. Erringtonasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will make inquiries as to the effectiveness of the arrangements for furthering efficiency in Government Departments and eliminating delays and thereafter state the methods adopted other than by way of suggestion committees.
§ Mr. Diamond:These arrangements are kept under continuous review and special inquiries are unnecessary. Each Department is responsible for its own efficiency and obtains advice from its Organisation and Methods branch, the Treasury and consultants, as appropriate.
