§ Mr. Winnickasked the Minister of Housing and Local Government whether he is yet able to announce plans for surveyor's assistance to tenants who appear before rent assessment committees.
§ Mr. Greenwood:I am very glad to say that the Chartered Land Societies 224W Committee have now announced details of a pilot scheme of surveyors' aid in connection with the work of rent assessment committees in London. The scheme will come into operation on 1st January, 1968. All tenants and landlords who might benefit under the scheme will be sent an explanatory leaflet at the same time as they receive the notification of the rent officer's decision. I am very grateful to the Committee and to all concerned with the preparation of this scheme, and I shall watch it in operation with great interest.
