§ Mr. Boyden:In addition to the usual amenities provided for Service men we are arranging for the construction of additional cinemas, swimming pools, a bowling alley and sailing facilities.
58. Mr. Colin Jacksonasked the Secretary of State for Defence what effect 127W the recent economy drive will have on the size and equipment of British forces in the Persian Gulf.
§ Mr. Boyden:Full weight is given to the need for economy in all decisions affecting the size and equipment of the forces.
§ 62. Mr. Hooleyasked the Secretary of State for Defence what is the estimated cost in 1968 of the British military presence in the Persion Gulf giving separately capital and recurrent costs; and how this compares with the estimated costs in 1967.
§ Mr. Mason:I cannot anticipate next year's Defence Estimates.
Mr. Lubbock asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a statement on the future role of British forces in the Persian Gulf.
