HC Deb 12 December 1967 vol 756 cc106-7W
Mr. Henry Clark

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, in view of the need to replace imported animal feedingstuffs with home-grown grain, if he will extend the subsidy on homegrown wheat to include wheat for animal feed as well as milling wheat, and alter the method of payment of subsidy to en able farmers who wish to retain their wheat to feed their own stock.

Mr. Peart

Wheat for animal feed is already eligible for deficiency payment provided it is certified on sale to be of millable quality. I have no evidence that the present method of payment is holding back production.
