Mr. Randall

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government how many applications for determination of a fair rent have been made to the rent officer in Gateshead; how many are outstanding; and what is the average time taken for the hearing to be held and a decision given.

Up to 24th November, 1967, 304 applications had been received, of which 34 were subsequently withdrawn; 131 of the applications were received in the week ending 17th November, and there are 138 applications outstanding. Up to now, applications have been decided on average four weeks after receipt.
