HC Deb 12 December 1967 vol 756 c113W
Mr. Alfred Morris

asked the Minister of Public Building and Works what further communication he has recently had with Manchester Corporation about the future of Baguley Hall; what action he proposes to take; what reply he has sent; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Mellish

Manchester Corporation have informed me that they do not feel able to contribute towards the cost of repairing Baguley Hall.

They are now considering my further request to transfer it to my Ministry on the basis that I accept responsibility, as I am prepared to do in the national interest, in view of Manchester's decision not to contribute.
