§ 79. Sir W. Teelingasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he will make a statement on the present position concerning compensation for British nationals in the Philippines due over claims for the 1939 to 1945 war.
§ Mr. William Rodgers:Despite frequent representations at the highest level in Washington no progress has been made in the matter of compensation for British nationals in the Philippines arising from the war in the Far East. Special legislation would now be necessary in the United States. We have instructed our Embassy in Washington to pursue the matter further with the United States Government.
